This 60 Hour Course is Designed:

  • To introduced the social worker to a career in long term care (nursing home, adult day care, assisted living)
  • For long term care social workers who are new to the field and need strong reinforcement and sound fundamental education in the various areas of long term care social work delivery
  • For long term care socialworkers who have been away from the industry and need to refresh their knowledge and skills, as well as catch up on what's new in social services in the long term care industry
  • By no means does this course substitute for or offer certification or licensure for social workers as sanctioned by the NJ State or any other state Social Work Board

COURSE OBJECTIVES (STUDENTS WILL) :

  • Learn all aspects of the social worker's responsibilities in the various long term care settings
  • Use the knowledge & skills obtained to enhance social work services in long term care
  • Be competent & confident offering social services in long term care settings
  • Develop & use good documentation skills for clinical assessments, care planning, and progress notes
  • Recognize, understand, and implement federal, state, and specialty regulations in long term care
  • Develop and utilize good counseling skills to implement with clients and co-workers

INSTRUCTORS:

Lynn Biot-Gordon is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree. Her experience included psychiatric social work, crisis intervention, hospice, and serving as Social Service Director for long term care facilities shich includes in-services & continuing education on a variety of topics for residents, families, and health care staff.


Karen Donnelly is a Certified Social Worker with a Master's Degree in Human Behavior and Psychology. She has over a decade of experience in long term care which includes serving Social Service Director, activity professional, independent consulting and facilitating education programs for residents, families, and health care staff.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
20 CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS ARE APPROVED BY THE FOLLOWING:

  • New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners
  • NJ Nursing Home Administators Licensing Board
  • NJ Certified Assisted Living Administrators Board
  • National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP)

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Tuition is $685.00 per person. You will receive confirmation of your registration with directions to the classroom location. Once payment is received, you are enrolled unless otherwise notified. GSWC reserves the right to cancel courses based on insufficient enrollment. Registrants who need to cancel must provide GSWC with written notice no later than one week prior to the start date of the course. Cancellations with proper written notice are refundable less a $100.00 administrative and book fee. Substitutions may be made at any time. Continuing Education credits issued will be cancelled for non-payment of required fees.
